Sloboda a Solidarita (SaS, Freedom and Solidarity) was founded in 2009 by the economist Richard Sulík. It belongs to the European Conservatives and Reformists Party (ECR) and was in government in 2010–2012 and 2020–2022. Since March 2024 it has been led by Branislav Gröhling, a former education minister; Sulík left the party in April 2026. In 2023 it won 6.3% and 11 seats, and its group still has 11 MPs.
SaS is in opposition; polls in September and October 2026 put it at 7.5–8.4%, and it plans to run alone. In October 2026 it was the first party to present a full programme for 2027, "Reštart Slovenska". It proposes scrapping the financial transactions tax, a flat 19% rate for VAT, income tax and corporate tax, a 13th pension only below the median pension, and writing EU and NATO membership into the Constitution. It supports Ukraine and civil partnerships for same-sex couples. It has ruled out working with Smer, Hlas, the SNS or Republika after the election.
SaS has a documented position on 42 of the 42 test questions, across 12 topics: 19 in favour, 2 in between and 21 against.
