Kresťanskodemokratické hnutie (KDH, Christian Democratic Movement) was founded in 1990 and is one of Slovakia's oldest parties. It has taken part in several centre-right governments and belongs to the European People's Party. Milan Majerský has led it since 2020. In 2023 it returned to parliament after seven years with 6.8% of the vote and 12 seats; its group still has 12 MPs. In the 2024 European elections it won 7.1% and one seat.
KDH is in opposition; polls in September and October 2026 put it at 6.2–7.0%, and it has said it will run alone. Its programme protects life "from conception to natural death", defines marriage as a union of a man and a woman and proposes a flat income tax. It supports Ukraine, EU and NATO membership and keeping the national veto. In 2025 nine of its MPs backed the government's constitutional amendment, which included KDH changes and passed with exactly 90 votes. Its 2026 congress ruled out governing with Smer, Hlas or the SNS.
