HLAS – sociálna demokracia (Hlas-SD) was founded in 2020 by Peter Pellegrini and other MPs who left Smer. It came third in the 2023 election with 14.7% of the vote and 27 seats. Pellegrini was elected President of the Republic in 2024 and stepped down as leader; since June 2024 the party has been led by the interior minister, Matúš Šutaj Eštok. Five MPs elected on its list have left or been expelled, and its group now has 24 members.
Hlas governs with Smer and the SNS in Robert Fico's cabinet, and its deputy leader Richard Raši is Speaker of the National Council. Polls in September and October 2026 put it at 5.9–8.6%. Its programme promises a "strong state", a full 13th pension, 5% VAT on basic foods and new hospitals. It sees EU and NATO membership as a guarantee of the country's development. Its group abstained on the opposition's eight resolutions on Ukraine. Its membership of the Party of European Socialists has been suspended since 2023.
